I am Joanne, I am a qualified and accredited counsellor offering both short-term and long-term therapy to adult individuals in Mid Sussex and the surrounding areas including Hassocks, Hurstpierpoint, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, I can also offer counselling in other areas, feel free to ask.

I offer a warm, relational, and down to earth approach.

I draw from a range of therapeutic models - including person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, Gestalt and mindfulness -tailoring each session to your unique needs.

Most importantly, I focus on building a strong trusting relationship, as I believe counselling works best when you feel genuinely safe, supported and understood.

What happens in the first session?

Your first session is a gentle introduction.

We’ll talk about what brought you to counselling and what you would like support with. You can ask questions, get feel for how I work, and decide whether you feel comfortable moving forward.

There is no pressure and no obligation to continue.

How long is a session?

Each session lasts 50 minutes.

Most clients come weekly, as this provides a consistent space for the work to unfold, but we can discuss what feels right

for you.

How much does counselling cost?

Sessions are £50.

Reduced rates are available for counselling students, and those experiencing financial difficulty.

We can talk about this during your initial conversation.

Do you offer online or phone sessions?

Yes. I offer counselling:

  • Face to face in Hassocks, Burgess Hill, Hurstpierpoint and surrounding areas.
  • Online via secure video
  • By phone
  • Home visits are available for individuals who experience mobility challenges or health conditions that make in-practice appointments difficult.
Is counselling confidential?

Yes. Everything that you share is confidential

The only exceptions are rare situations where I may need to break confidentiality for safety reasons- for example, if you or someone else is at risk of harm, we will go through this clearly in your first session.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone’s needs are different.

Some people come for a short period to work through something specific. Others find longer-term counselling helpful for deeper exploration and growth.

We will review things together regularly and go at a pace that feels right for you.

My role is to make the process gentle, supportive, and safe.

That’s absolutely okay.

You don’t need to come with anything prepared.

We can explore whatever feels important for you in the moment.

Students are eligible for a reduced rate.

Location

I am located in Hassocks, I offer face to face services in Burgess Hill , Hurstpierpoint and the surrounding areas including Hove and Worthing.

I also offer online and telephone Counselling.

I provide home visits to clients that are unable to access the community for example due to mobility issues, Agoraphobia etc or in a care home setting
